Gist Family Christmas

December 14, 2015

Last August we moved into our Forever Home.  To celebratae we hosted our First Annual “Gist Family Christmas Party”!  Boy, was it a blast!

To celebrate I designed 2 areas, an elegant “grown up” area and a whimsical “kiddie” area.  In my opinion, the best of both worlds, lol!  Oh and I forgot to mention…..my husband “needed” a man area, so he transformed our garage into a man cave/bar area, he even stole our TV.  HA!

Simple Elegance: For the grown up dessert table I chose white and silver with touches of red. When shopping for accents for my dessert tables, I love Target and Michaels.  I found the most beautiful silver cake plates at Target and silver painted twig trees too.  Both were perfect for my table! I invisioned a tutu style table skirt which I easily made myself with a reem of white tulle and a glue gun, that’s it! My dear friend Tiffany from Fizzy Party made the pom pom garland that adorned the front of the table and gave it that extra sparkle.

When it came to the desserts, I went mini.  Mini desserts seem very sophisticated to me.  Simple and beautiful is always lovely combo. I served mini cups of Cheesecake Mousse ( a recipe you can find in my friend Glory’s cook book Glorious Layered Desserts), Cake pops, Chocolate Peppermint Mini Cupcakes, Meringue Cookies, Chocolate Covered Oreos and Decorated Cookies of course!

Bright and Whimsy: The kiddie table was so much fun to design! I used classic Christmas elements with a bit of whimsy.  Bright red, lime green and white.  All the paper decor came from Michaels! (Love them!) I have this great short wall that is perfect for a backdrop.  I used red fabric and stapled it to the wall and Voila! Instant backdrop!  I hung the paper decor from Michaels and my Be Merry banner from Lisa T Creations along the top.

Planning desserts for kids is always easy! You can never go wrong with Cupcakes, Cookie, Pops, Oreos and Rice Krispie Treats!  Transform them into fun Christmas shapes and you have instant cuteness!  I also made Christmas popcorn and put it in individual cups.  I use this recipe all the time.  You can customize it for EVERY holiday.  It’s another fun recipe from Glorious Treats! For more sugary goodness, add a few cute jars of candy to your table scape.  You can never go wrong with Christmas Candy!

More fun….Add a Photo Booth.  They are all the rage and who doesn’t love a fun party pic?!  I simply added wrapping paper and white lights to a wall and got some cute props.  So. Much. Fun!  (And the kids go crazy for it!)

Hope you got some fun Christmas Party Inspiration! Merry Christmas!
